First Night Hat

First Night Hat

Ever have one of those skeins of yarn that is just so beautiful, that you agonize over what to make with it? This yarn, Fibre Co Cumbria, is a lovely 90% wool, 10% mohair, and my absolute favorite shade of yellow that goes perfectly with my Robin’s egg blue Agnes sweater. But, I ripped and re-knit this skein so many times, trying to make a hat design that I’d wear all the time. Finally, I realized that what I really wanted was the texture of simple knits and purls, so that’s what I went with. We’ve been experiencing sub-zero temps in Massachusetts this week, and this hat has been a permanent fixture on my freezing skull. I LOVE it.

First Night uses just 1 skein of Cumbria, and is a combination of just knits and purls for the design, finished with basic decreases. The pattern is both written out and charted. And, if you use the code NEW at checkout on Ravelry, it’ll take 50% off your purchase until January 10th. See First Night on Ravelry.

  • I love that color and I love how you combined the stitches, well done. I also have some yarns that I struggle what to make with, I just love looking at them without touching them, lol 😀
